ABOUT ME

My Trials and Tribulations…

At 19 I traveled to Australia, and migrated to Melbourne. I “grew up” into adulthood in a foreign culture without my family around me. I got married, had a child, and was lost in myself for many years.  Skip forward 10 years later and I moved to California as a single mother, and started my own journey of learning self-worth.

I have raised children, and cared for a mother dying of cancer, and endured divorce.

I have travelled to Japan and Seoul, and loved every minute of my journies, for all my joys, trials and tribulations have  brought me to who I am today.

What makes me happy…

I love being creative, both physically and mentally. If there is a tricky problem I love to think of ways to solve it. I practice smiling, laughing and finding joy in simple things.

I am touched by music, color, art, travel and people. Happiness of others fills me to the brim. I have immeasurable joy in watching discovery, be it in my children, friends or even strangers.

One of the biggest joys I have experienced was volunteering at a VAV concert (K-Pop). Watching the fans excitement, joy and happiness struck a chord in my heart.

I decided right there, that I wanted to support those artists who made all those people happy.

K-pop is not a phase and it continues to bring me joy.

At a concert you will catch me watching the audience almost as much as the artists on stage.

What I am learning…

My degrees are in Communication, with a minor in International Studies, and a concentration in both teaching and psychology.

And aIthough my journey started later in life, through persistence and perseverance I have earned an AA in Humanities, and both a BA and MA in Communication.

I am learning about the struggles of Gen Z and how to create solutions to help them.

I am learning how to be a good teachers and a good student.

I am learning to Love Myself.

What I want to do…

I am a Communication Specialist.

I want to support Music Artist who create and spread joy in this world.

I am creating seminars and workshops essential to communication.

Through my professionalism modules, trainees learn self-awareness, navigate multi-generational social settings, and realize their own potential as well as prevent burns out and handle imposter syndrome.

Through an interpersonal, intercultural, and professional lens, students will gain perspective and insight, not only to who they are now, but how to become who they want to be, and utilize learned skills to remain strong.

MUSIC. CULTURE. PASSION

Music

Music has been a part of my entire life. My grandmother sang to me as a child, my mother played music at home, and I learned to play music in school.

Music for me is like clothing. I can wrap myself up in a melody, wear lyrics like armor, or bathe in a beat. I can wash away feelings, savor my sorrow, or gain power to face my enemies. Music is an expression of self, in its own multi-faceted complicated way.

To me, music and art are food for the soul. They feed a part of your person you didn’t know could starve. They satiate a thirst that was only known once it was soothed and satisfied.

And these balms for our heart are also our voices to be heard. Movements to be gained and ballads of lament to be recognized.

Through music we see social change, bonding and unity.

Travel

I think in a past life I was probably a nomad.

I was 19 when I left my home country to travel the world. I had little fear to pack a bag and wander off. I have traveled to Australia, New Zealand, Japan, and South Korea.

From all my years I have come to believe that I have learned something from each culture. I encourage young people to open their eyes to the unknown. To take time to step out our own personal comfortable space and see what there is to explore.

If there is one lesson to learn it is this.

To travel and learn about another culture is the best way to learn about ones’ own inner self and strength.
